Rock 'N' Rollvember is a talent show for SPMS students, who have a "show-ready" group or solo act. Acts can be singing, dancing, playing instruments, comedy, skits, magic acts, sport demos, and other skills. Students can also audition and participate as an emcee. Emcees introduce acts and keep the audience engaged throughout the show. Students selected to be in the show will be required to pay the $20 show fee, plus be a SLS member. Students will need to provide their own costumes or attire.

Parents can participate by chaperoning at auditions and rehearsals, and assisting with concessions, 50/50 raffle, and more during the show. Read the updated AACPS Volunteer Requirements.

BEFORE THE AUDITION CHECKLIST

⏱️  3 Minute Time Limit: Make sure your act (solo and group) is not longer than 3 minutes. If your chosen song is longer than 3 minutes then you must cut it appropriately as to not exceed the time limit.

🧠  Memorized: Your act must be memorized - lyrics or dance memorized and stage movements blocked / choreographed. Memorized means memorized! Looking at lyrics on a sheet of paper or on your phone is not memorized!

🎶  Song Selection: Once a song is selected by another auditioner, it is reserved and cannot be used again. Look at the sign ups and songs selected by others before signing up.

📝  Permission Form: Get the permission form completed and signed by your parent.

🎸  Auditions with Instruments: Those with instruments should select an audition at a later time to be able to go home and retrieve equipment and return. We do not have a place to store instruments during the school day.

🚫  School-appropriate: Make sure your song is school appropriate. School-appropriate means none of the following may be present in your song:

  • Racial slurs
  • Sexual content
  • References to illicit substances
  • Cuss words that can't easily be changed or substituted
  • Violence or weapons

🎤 STUDENTS AUDITIONING TO BE A MC

MC's: Do Not Sign Up in an audition time slot. All MC auditions will be turned in virtually. You can indicate your interest on the sign up page, but you need to submit your audition virtually.

We are inviting students to audition for the role of Master of Ceremonies (MC) for this year’s Talent Show! The MCs plays an important part in keeping the show fun, organized, and engaging for our audience.

We’re looking for students who are charismatic, confident, and comfortable speaking in front of a crowd, and who can bring energy and enthusiasm to the stage while helping the show run smoothly. There will be 2 students per act (Act 1 and Act 2) for a total of 4 students selected.

Students interested in auditioning will need to:

  • Memorize two short scripts from this document - MC Practice Slides

  • Record a virtual audition video performing both scripts.

  • Submit their video to Mrs. Pelletier at apelletier@AACPS.org by Oct 22.

  • Permission Form: Get the permission form completed and signed by your parent and give to Mrs. Pelletier.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who enjoy performing and connecting with others. We look forward to seeing their creativity and stage presence shine!

Chosen MCs will receive their scripts via email and in-person the week following auditions after results are released. It is expected that chosen MCs fully memorize all of their lines prior to show week so we can primarily focus on their blocking and minor tweaks during rehearsals.
